The Golden Mean
The Golden
Mean was derived from the rule of thirds. Generally, said rule is associated
with being a mathematical term. The reason that it has been related to film and
photography projects alike is due to a grid used to determine where people or
objects should be placed whilst filming.
The grid is divided into three parts (hence the rule of thirds) and the
middle four connecting points are deemed the most important. The main actor can
usually be seen here or key symbols in the film/photograph. While that in it of
itself is interesting, the fact remains that the golden mean is also a number
one comes across when taking into account other ratios.
